INTRODUCING DARIA GELLER

Reflecting on the weirdness of the human brain.
This is what film director and DoP Daria Geller has been doing with her work over the past few years.
The way she’s decided to do it is by looking at relationships, diving deeper and deeper into our most hidden thoughts and awkward traits. And we dig it.

Daria has worked across several genres, including commercials and documentaries.
But it’s her work in fashion and music that really succeeds in showing her worth.
A few weeks ago she released the latest music video for Son Little – The Middle – a beautifully shot and choreographed short in which we find ourselves stuck in a never ending loop of love, tension and release.

Just this week she has released her latest fashion film for Russian label Brier. The film is titled Collapsology, a term generally used to refer to the belief that civilisation is destined to collapse. In the same vein, with her latest work Daria she looks at the self-destructive habits of a man, visually expressed with quick bursts of emotionally charged shots, set against a dark colour palette.

This isn’t the first time Daria and Brier have collaborated.
Their first fashion film, also titled Brier and inspired by The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot, forms the beginning of Daria’s exploration of the fashion label from a more cinematic perspective.

A true lover of hidden stories, Daria has taken it upon herself to tell those that may often go unnoticed – fleeting, intimate and sometimes painful moments of a person’s life, beautifully captured on camera.

Riflettere sulla stranezza della mente umana.
Questo è quello che la regista e DoP Daria Geller fa col suo lavoro da ormai qualche anno.
Il modo in cui ha deciso di farlo è osservando le relazioni, e spingersi sempre più in profondità verso i nostri pensieri più nascosti rivelando le nostra abitudini più insolite.
E ci piace.

L’esperienza di Daria copre già diverse tipologie di video, dai commercials ai documentari.
Ma è il suo lavoro nella moda e nella musica che riesce veramente a sottolineare il suo valore.
Alcune settimane fa ha pubblicato il suo ultimo music video per Son Little – The Middle – un corto molto curato nell’immagine come nella coreografia in cui ci troviamo in un loop eterno di amore, tensione e rilascio.

Questa settimana invece ha pubblicato il suo ultimo fashion film per il label russo Brier.
Il film si chiama Collapsology, un termine che in genere viene utilizzato per fare riferimento alla convinzione che la civiltà sia destinata a collassare.
Nella stessa linea, Collapsology osserva le tendenze auto-distruttive di un uomo, espresse visualmente con inquadrature emotivamente cariche, contrapposte ad uno sfondo di colori scuri.

Questa non è la prima volta che Daria e Brier hanno collaborato.
Il loro primo fashion film, intitolato anch’esso Brier ed ispirato a Il canto d’amore di J. Alfred Prufrock di T.S.Elliot, forma l’inizio dell’esplorazione del fashion label da un punto di vista più cinematografico.

Una vera amante di storie nascoste, Daria ha deciso così di raccontare quelle storie che spesso non vengono notate – momenti fugaci, intimi ed a volte dolorosi della vita di una persona, magnificamente catturati su video.
