SOAPOPERA MEETS ELLE-LOUISE BURGUEZ

// About tropical weather, Turkish delights and positive power

AN INTERVIEW BY FEDERICA CIUCI PRIORI

Sensitive, lovely and beautiful.
With her sweet smile and light tan, this special soul can drive you in a positive and calm world full of joyful colours.
Meet Elle-Louise, our new aussie crush and talented artist and let the sense of magic be with you!

Federica. Ciao Elle-Louise! Tell us about your background. How did you get to where you are now?
EL.
I have grown up here in Australia and had a very wonderful childhood full of creativity and a sense of magic. I believe this has helped me to come out of un-pure times and realise that my truth lies within creating.

F. Describe yourself in three adjectives
EL.
Sensitive, honest, loving

F. What does it mean beauty for you?
EL.
For a long time I considered beauty to be external perfection. And of course this causes one a lot of misery! Now I feel beauty as love and anything and everything that I come in contact with contains it.

F. How much the place you live in influences your creative process?
EL.
Where I live isn’t really a creative hub by any means but the peace I am able to feel surrounded by the nature around me is a huge influence. I am my happiest in rainy tropical weather.. the cold can make me become very moody.

F. When did you find out you wanted to be and artist?
EL.
Ever since I can remember I have wanted to pursue a creative life. I was always saying “One day I will be a ballet dancer, a singer, an actress, an artist and a model.” Big dreams haha!

F. What themes are you currently exploring with your art?
EL.
I am not usually purposefully deciding on a theme before I paint or draw but lately I have wanted to draw womanly figures or anything that feels ‘magical’ to me.
My books can be thematic.. a lot of honesty and a strong sense of womanly power and strength.

F. Tell us about the serie you have drawn for us
EL.
A couple of days ago I got back from a 10 day silent meditation course and these are the first paintings I have made since then. Many different emotions are coming up for me at the moment and I am constantly aiming to feel peaceful… these works are worlds I daydream to be in and worlds that I believe would feel calm. Each one includes a bowl full of Turkish Delights because I saw them yesterday at a market and thought they were so beautiful. My boyfriend is really interested in Persian art at the moment and I wanted them to have that kind of feel as well.

F. Do you have separate wardrobes for work and life, or are the two one and the same?
EL.
I wear old baggy clothes when working because I am messy. I daydream about wearing an artist smock though.

F. What does your creative state look like? What’s the process when choosing your palette?
EL.
Very calm, surrounded by trees, preferably outside, sometimes music playing, my pets under my feet, a palette that makes my brain feel smooth when I look at the colours.

F. A place, an artist and a film you feel yours!
EL. Gaucin
(Andalucia),Gauguin, In the Mood for Love.

F. We SoapOpera girls like to call ourselves #busysexyeasy (or at least we try to!) If you had to choose hashtag that represents your lifestyle which would it be?
EL.
#simplepassionlove

F. What extra gear should a young creative women have today?
EL.
Self-love and positive power.

F. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
EL.
I am holding my child to my chest, I am very calm, I can smell the flowers in my garden, I can hear my lover laughing.
